Artur & Vanessa came about by chance. When asked if they would write a novel together, Moritz Krämer and Francesco Wilking (Die Höchste Eisenbahn) started texting a story back and forth sometime in 2017. After 11 short scenes in message format, it was over. Pretty quickly, the two realised that this was going to be more of a concept album than a book. So they called friends with whom they had never made music before, with the question: We have written a story, it"s about Artur and Vanessa, who found an amusement park where everyone can start a new life and almost get killed in it, we would like to make songs out of it, 10 days, one every day, at Pascal"s Studio Nord, do you have time/buck? Eight times YES! How beautiful, a story has come out of a flash idea and a record has come out of a holiday camp with friends, which is naive, colourful, desperate, funny, like the story of Artur & Vanessa, two people we would so have wished to make it. "Who are the lost ones running around outside, falling down and not being able to get up again?" Big questions wrapped up in music that helps you up, takes you in its arms and onto the dance floor, where everyone else is already bouncing around without answers.
