Bekannt wurde Jason Boesel als Schlagzeuger von Bands wie Rilo Kiley und Bright Eyes. 2009 drängten ihn seine Kollegen von Conor Obersts Mystic Valley Band, doch endlich mal eigene Songs zu spielen. Nachdem er einige Lieder zum Album "Outer South" der Mystic Valley Band beisteuerte, wurde es Zeit für ein Soloalbum. "Hustler_ÇÖs Son" entstand mit Mystic-Valley-Kollegen Nik Freitas, Blake Mills sowie dem Produzenten Jonathan Wilson, außerdem mit dabei: Benmont Tench (Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers), Orenda Fink (Azure Ray) sowie David Rawlings (Gillian Welch).
