ALBUM REISSUE - 3 NEW TRACKS INCLUDING A DUO WITH KEZIAH JONES It is a royal road that opens up to Ayo ... and which explains the title of her sixth album, which is a mix between a new start and a return to her basics. We can hear both sides on these groovy compositions full of soul, as well as on a few chosen covers (Abbey Lincoln, Lhasa). Folk is blended with soul, or vice versa: we don't really know and that's good, because Royal shines through the efficiency of its melodies and the purity of its arrangements. Produced by guitarist Freddy Koella (Bob Dylan, Lhasa...), the acoustic textures warm up the heart as much as the lyrics do . Ayo sings with the self confidence and the quietness of a woman happy to have (re) found herself, of a queen who reascends to her due throne. After her tour got cancelled because of the pandemic, Ayo is at last able to get back on stage to perform these new tracks live. The tour will include 5 german gigs next January. In the meantime, Ayo got back in studio to record 3 new songs, including a magnificent song with Keziah Jones. Long live the queen!
