Rarely has an album title been more fitting. The new album by Faroese artist EIVOR is entitled "Bridges". When you are born and grow up in a country made up of 18 islands, you know how important these connecting elements are. Her new songs are less about the bridges that connect individual islands and more about the mental connections between people, or places - between home and far away. "Some bridges are made of marble / You follow traces laid out for you / Some bridges are leaps of faith / You have to find your own way across the water / Into your lover's arms / Where nothing will do you no harm / Bridges from the heart / Never keep us apart," sings EIVOR in the title track, which is accompanied by an acoustic guitar and subtle electronic sounds. In this way, the singer once again embodies her typical "folktronica", which was already responsible for her breakthrough on the 2012 album "Room". "Bridges" is in many ways a classic singer/songwriter album that finds its roots deep in the pop of the sixties. The acoustic guitars set against a drum machine sound create an exciting mix of traditional and modern in a wonderful way. As if that wasn't impressive enough, EIVOR also uses her incredibly multi-faceted voice as a further instrument to underscore the atmosphere.
