Chicken Diamond never sounds like a one-man band at all. As on his first 2 records, he's playing all guitars. And everything else that you can hear is made up with synthesizers, bass loops, drum machines... But you would never imagine these are not real musicians playing, as it sounds as a live proto-punk band! On this new LP, he is going way further than the usual punk blues style. Just listen to the distorted synthesizer on Reptile or the mad Sonny Sharrock-like solos on the title song: this is not your grandmother punk blues! And when he cuts heavy riffs from his Kay or Old Kraftman axes (Undercover, Dark Boogie, Motorcycle), it just feels the same as being crushed by a bulldozer. Did you hear anything dirtier these days? Some may say it's not really blues any longer, but who cares? You just have to enjoy this wild ear-bleeding session... And don't forget it; his name is Charles Chicken' Diamond.
